Update 2015

A little update for anyone landing on this blog more recently than 2011.

Standing by all of my previous comments about the clubs I visited please bear in mind that some of the places I visited may have closed, changed or got better or worse since my review.

There are two clubs in Leicester that I've trained at recently and would heartily recommend:

Hei Jo Shin is a family run Wado karate club and part of the aiwakai federation. It benefits from access to the aiwakai network and monthly Wadokai England coaching. In Leicester there is kumite coaching from Senseis Michael Rankin, David Cole, David Coope and kata instruction from the awesome Peter May. Not to mention the lovely Raj who runs the club with his family. It's a friendly but dedicated all age club that runs classes on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm to 9pm at Aylestone leisure centre.

Leicester Taekwondo Academy which trains Mondays and Wednesdays 6.30-8 at Southfields Drive Sports centre is a UKITF school run by V degree instructor Mr Nick Overton. Highly skilled, a great practitioner and a friendly and helpful teacher with access to regular Grandmaster seminars and VIII Dan master training. LTA accommodates all ages and is well worth a visit.
